Rental Conditions for Rental Bicycles

THE ELECTRIC BICYCLE AND ITS USE

1. By accepting the rental bicycle, the renter acknowledges that the bicycle and its accessories are roadworthy, ready to ride, free from defects and clean.

2. The renter may use the bicycle only in the normal manner, in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, particularly the Road Traffic Regulations. The bicycle must not be used off paved roads or for any purpose other than its intended use.

3. The bicycle may only be ridden by the renter.

4. The bicycle may not be used for testing, commercial purposes, trips abroad or unlawful purposes without the rental provider's written consent.

5. The renter agrees to lock the rental bicycle using the bicycle lock provided.

6. The rental provider expressly recommends wearing a bicycle helmet.

II. RENTER'S OBLIGATIONS

1. The renter agrees to handle the bicycle with care, observe the technical guidelines and leave it locked in a secure location.

2. The renter agrees to inform the rental provider of any defects that arise during the rental period when returning the bicycle.

III. REPAIRS

If repairs are required, the rental provider will cover the costs unless they are due to damage caused by the renter or a breach of the renter's contractual obligations. The renter is responsible for any such damage or breach.

IV. ACCIDENTS/THEFT
The renter must notify the rental provider immediately if the bicycle is involved in an accident or is stolen. In the event of an accident, the renter must provide the rental provider with a detailed written report and sketch. The report must include the names and addresses of all persons involved and any witnesses, as well as the registration numbers of any vehicles involved.

V. LIABILITY
1. The renter must return the bicycle in the same condition in which it was received.

2. The renter is liable for damage to the bicycle caused by their fault and for any breach of their contractual obligations. The renter must also cover any associated costs.

3. The renter is released from the obligation to pay compensation to the extent that a third party compensates the rental provider for the damage.

VI. EXCLUSION OF THE RENTAL PROVIDER'S LIABILITY
The rental provider is not liable irrespective of fault. They are liable only for intent and gross negligence. Liability for ordinary negligence applies only in the event of a breach of material or typical contractual obligations. If the rental provider is held liable by a third party due to the renter's breach of this rental agreement, statutory requirements or official regulations, the renter must fully indemnify the rental provider and fulfil all related obligations.

VII. RETURNING THE BICYCLE
1. The renter must return the bicycle to the rental provider at the agreed location no later than the end of the agreed rental period, during the rental provider's business hours. Returning the bicycle outside business hours is at the renter's own risk.

2. Any extension of the rental period requires the rental provider's consent before the rental period ends.

3. If the bicycle is not returned on time, the renter must pay the daily rental fee for each
day or part thereof and, where applicable, compensate the rental provider for any additional losses.

4. When the bicycle is returned, it must be checked for visible defects and the findings recorded in the agreement. The renter must report any defects that arise during the rental period immediately.

5. When returned, the bicycle must be connected to the charging station, locked, and the keys placed back in the corresponding key safe.

VIII. FINAL PROVISIONS
1. There are no other ancillary agreements. Any amendments or additions to this agreement must be made in writing. This also applies to this written-form clause.

2. If any provision of this agreement is or becomes invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall not be affected.

Operating instructions
We assume that you are familiar with riding a bicycle.

•IMPORTANT: Take 10 minutes to try out the e-bike here in front of the house. Please note that braking performance changes in wet conditions (longer stopping distances; after braking to dry the rims, the wheels may lock if the brakes are applied fully).

• Please use the city e-bike only on suitable, level road surfaces and not off-road. To avoid unnecessary damage to the bicycle, always watch the road surface here in the national park, where tree roots and slate stones can make conditions challenging. Avoid such surfaces and slow down.-

• The coaster brake (if fitted) only reaches full braking power when the crank arms are parallel to the ground. Braking is considerably stronger in low gears (e.g. 1st gear) than in the higher gears (e.g. 3rd gear).

• During long downhill rides, please do not use the coaster brake continuously. Let it cool down from time to time to prevent malfunctions and damage. Use the rim brake more often, and use the coaster brake only for brief braking.

• Shift gears only while riding. Ease off the pedals to shift safely. Loud grinding noises mean you are applying too much force!

• Make sure the tyres are inflated to the recommended pressure of 3.8 bar (shown on the tyre sidewall). Overinflating or underinflating by more than 1 bar can damage the tyres and rims.

• Observe the minimum insertion marks for the seat post and handlebar stem (7 cm each/marked!).

We would also like to draw your attention to a few details about the electric bikes.
• Switch on the display with a short press to activate the electric assist.

• Switch off the electric assist in the same way.

• Start riding with electric assist on the lowest setting and increase it only once you have had time to get used to the bike.
